How to Set Up Azure DevOps Notifications

Using service hooks or email, you can stay in touch with your team's development activities with Azure DevOps Notifications. They allow you to concentrate on what really matters by keeping people informed about your projects.

How to set up notifications in your company Before you can use Azure DevOps notification subscriptions, you need to be a member of a company that has the right permissions and roles. The organization's preferences profile page is where you can manage the notification subscriptions for your team.

Changes to work items, pull requests, code commits, build and release, and other significant events in Azure Devops Build Monitor or TFS can all be tracked and responded to through notifications. Depending on the delivery characteristics specified in each subscription, they are sent via email or service hook.

Targeted notifications are sent by default subscriptions. For instance, the build failure subscription only notifies those who are monitoring the pipeline that built the work item, whereas the work item update subscription only notifies those who have been assigned to the work item.

You have control over the events and types of notifications you receive from your organization through personal notifications. For yourself, a team, or a group, you can create one or more OOB subscriptions. In your list of notification subscriptions, these OOB subscriptions are listed in the category you choose.

Additionally, you can refuse to receive unwanted notifications. Click on Notification Settings from your profile picture in the upper right corner of your account to accomplish this.

An OOB subscription icon, represented by a yellow triangle, is displayed on notifications for which users have not opted out. By selecting Finish and clicking on the appropriate icon, you can switch this subscription to any other type.

You can add filters to a new OOB subscription to specify the event criteria. The notification subscriber's template, the event type, and other relevant fields serve as the foundation for these filter conditions.

A custom notification trigger can also be set up to receive an event whenever a particular state changes during a particular deployment stage. You can also set the trigger to only send notifications to a select group of subscribers, like a team.

You can, for instance, set the "Build Completed" notification trigger to only notify users who are keeping an eye on the build pipeline. You can keep up with how your team is doing while still avoiding unnecessary email spam with this.

Using service hooks to send notifications You can use Microsoft Teams or even Microsoft Power Automate flows to send notifications to your teams' mobile devices. These service hooks are simple to use and can be used to stay in touch with your team members on the road and in the office through a variety of channels.
